<p>Retrace your steps back past the Frari and over the canal and turn left heading for Campo San Ostin. Here you take the right hand exit, along Calle Ca Dona and continue ahead through the maze of narrow lanes and squares. Just before reaching the Rio de San Boldo canal you turn right and then left and cross at the Ponte del Fomer. Once across take the second turning right and straight on to Venice’s seedy bridge.</p>

<p>The “Bridge of Tits” was the heart of the red light district in 15th century Venice. The bridge gained this name as the officials were worried about the increase in homosexuality in Venice and so the prostitutes were encouraged to bare their breasts from the bridge and surrounding windows in the hope of converting people.</p>

<p>The local church of Renaissance artist Tintoretto and is where you can see three examples of his work. San Cassiano is the patron saint of School</p>
<p>Teachers and an 18th century painting by Balestra depicts him being attacked by children. The church also once held a fifteenth century painting by Messina, which later reappeared and now can be viewed in Vienna. There is also a ceiling fresco and alter piece by the eighteenth century artist Giambattista Pittoni.</p>

<p>Once you have had a look around carry on ahead and back over the bridge and back onto the Calle delle Regina about 50 meters further along. Take the next turning left and across the Rio do Torri, turning first right which leads to Ca Pesaro.</p>

<p>The marble Baroque palace on the Grand Canal, since 1897 it has been home to the Museum of Modern Art and Oriental Art. The Museum of Modem Art contains an excellent collection of works by De Chirico, Maitisse, Klee, Kandinsky, Chagall and Klimt. The Oriental collection has over 30,000 artifacts, mainly Japanese including armor, weapons and paintings.</p>

<p>A richly decorated 11th century church with the later 17th century facade facing onto the Grand Canal and has examples of work by Torretto, Baratta,Migliori and Amigioni. The ceilings have been decorated by Letterini and a young Tiepolo painted the “Martyrdom of St Bartholomeo”. Next door is the small chapel dedicated to the Goldsmiths Guild and opened in 1709, nowadays it is occasionally used for concerts and exhibitions. The church is also the family tomb to the Mocenigo family who heavily supported the church and whose palace was nearby.</p>

<p>This massive church holds a dominant position alongside the Grand Canal in the Dorsoduro district.</p>
<p>An octagonal church, capped with a massive dome, its iconic shape making it popular with many artists, including Canaletto, JMW Turner, John Singer Sargent and Francesco Guardi. The church contains “The Marriage at Cana” by Tintoretto and a number of pieces by Titian, including the ceiling fresco of David and Goliath. The church also features in paintings by Canaletto and a poem by Jean Cocteau.</p>

<p>Having explored the basilica take the Fondantante delle Salute and head south, crossing the canal and joining the Calle dello Squero on the left. This reaches the wide expanses of the Guidecca Canal after 100 meters. Hereyou will find yourself on the wide promenade of the Fondamente Zattere al Sprinto Santo.</p>

<p>This is a pleasant stroll past old warehouses, restaurants, galleries and gorgeous hotels until you reach the turning onto Fondamente Nani, 120 meters past the Church of San Gesuati. Walking along side the Rio de San Trovaso canal you can see the boatyard and the Church of San Trovaso on the opposite bank, which can be reached by crossing over the first bridge, Ponte San Trovaso.</p>

<p>The church of San Trovaso, which can be found in the former shipbuilding quarter of Venice, is dedicated to two saints, St Gervase and St Protasius. Uniquely, it has two decorative entrances that are supposedly due to a feud between two families who refused to use the same door. Despite its dour interior, there are a couple of paintings of note, “The Last Supper” by Tintoretto and the “Temptation of St Anthony” by Giambono.</p>

<p>Next door to the church is the only surviving Gondola boatyard, which were once prevalent in the area. Here the elegant craft are still produced and repaired by hand and you can see these magnificent black and gold boats as they are worked upon.</p>
