Bride’s Pool at Plover Cove Country Park is located at New Territory. It has a waterfall and a clean BBQ area in the forest. A bus no. 275R on Sundays and Public Holidays departing from MTR Tai Po Market Station will take you directly to the pool. If you take a bus no. 75K or Minibus 20C at the same station, they will stop at Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus every day. It takes around 1 hour of foot from Tai Mei Tuk to Bride’s Pool. You can also find a clean BBQ area at Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus.

It seems a little far from Hong Kong Island to Bride’s Pool  at New Territory. However, if you try, the journey to Plover Cove Country Park will present you 4 kinds of excitement.

(a) When you take a subway from MTR North Point Station for Bride’s Pool, you have to transfer trains 2 times at MTR Yau Tong and Kowloon Tong Station to catch a train bound for Luohu Station. Luohu is the border between mainland China and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

(Bus no. 275R bound for Bride’s Pool runs only on Sundays and Public Holidays. If you take a 75K or a minibus 20C from MTR Tai Po Market Station on weekdays and Saturdays, they run only to Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus. In this case, you have to walk around 1 hour from the bus terminus to Bride’s Pool. It is the reason why Sundays are much convenient for the journey to Bride’s Pool.)

There can be various kinds of itinerary to Bride’s Pool to traveler’s preference. Here suggests you an itinerary to the pool as follows.

(a) On a Sunday, you prepare BBQ items and foods from the Wellcome superstore at MTR North Point Station before riding a subway.

(b) You take a bus no. 75K departing from MTR Tai Po Market Station and stop at Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus. You enjoy BBQ at Tai Mei Tuk BBQ Area.

If you have a plan to enjoy BBQ at Tai Mei Tuk BBQ Area or Bride’s Pool, you have to prepare BBQ items and foods before riding a subway at MTR North Point Station. Go to Yau Tong Station first and transfer train to Green Line. At Kowloon Tong Station of Green Line, transfer train again to Blue Line, East Rail Line, towards Luohu Station which is the border between mainland China and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Stop at Tai Po Market Station of the Blue Line and take a bus no. 75K at the bus terminus linked with exit A3 of the station.

If you go to the end of an underpass linked with exit A3 of MTR Tai Po Market Station, you will find a signboard for buses posted on the wall. It shows the way for double-deck buses such as 75K or 275R to the right and for minibuses to the left. If you go left from the end of the underpass, you can take a public minibus no. 20C bound for Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus. Operating days and fares for the buses towards Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus or Bride’s Pool are stated below.

75K : Operating all days bound for Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus at HK$5.80. 275R : Operating only on Sundays and Public Holidays bound for Bride’s Pool at HK$10.60. 20C (minibus) : Operating all days to Tai Mei Tuk at HK$7.30.

Way back to Hong Kong Island.

When you come back to downtown at Hong Kong Island, you can take a bus No. 275R on Sundays and public holidays. On the other days, you have to walk back to Tai Mei Tuk Bus Terminus to take a bus No. 75K or minibus No. 20C bound for MTR Tai Po Market Station.

When you arrive at Stanley Village Bus Terminus, go around 200 meters along “Stanley Village Road” lying outside the bus terminus. Then, you will meet a Wellcome superstore next to Pacific Coffee.

Prepare BBQ items and foods at the Wellcome store and return to Stanley Village Bus Terminus to go to Stanley Beach. There are 2 ways to Stanley Beach. One is going to the beach by bus no. 63 or no. 65 from the bus stop of “Metropole Building, King’s Road” which is located around 100 meters left from the exit B1 of MTR North Point Station. Bus no. 63 operates from Mondays to Saturdays. And, bus no. 65 runs only on Sundays and public holidays. Get off the bus at Stanley Village or Stanley Village Bus Terminus. And, go around 500 meters along “Stanley Beach Road” in front of the bus terminus. Then, you will meet Stanley Main Beach on your right. In this case, you can get all BBQ items and foods at the Wellcome superstore which is located around 100 meters right from exit B1 of MTR North Point Station.

The other one is going to the beach by bus no. 6, 6A, 6X or no. 260 at the bus stop of “Admiralty Station, Queensway” same as explained for “Deep Water Bay Beach” or “Repulse Bay Beach”. Starting from Central Exchange Square Bus Terminus, the bus goes to Stanley via “Admiralty Station, Queensway” and “Repulse Bay Beach”. In this case, you have to go to the Wellcome superstore at Stanley for BBQ when you stop at Stanley Village Bus Terminus. As introduced at “Wellcome superstore at Stanley”, you can easily get the store located around 200 meters away from the bus terminus. Prepare all BBQ items and foods from the Wellcome superstore next to Pacific Coffee and return to the bus terminus to take “Stanley Beach Road”.

Clean Barbecue Area

Barbecue area stretches along the coast.

Stone chairs and a BBQ pit. Place a BBQ net on the iron shelf established in the pit to prevent charcoal from flow down. Light the red part of BBQ fire starter and put it in the middle of charcoal. If you blow or make a wind by a fan, it would be faster to set a fire.

2 BBQ nets can be put together with BBQ forks. Place the linked nets on the fire to roast foods.

Get rid of the sharp end of BBQ forks and put 2 BBQ nets together with the forks. Then, put the nets on the fire. Foods can be roasted on the nets or you can roast them with BBQ forks directly on the fire.

All foods can be roasted.

Chopsticks, salt and pepper, eggplant, knife, scissors and tongs

When you finish BBQ, put all garbage into the wastebasket.
