Sitting for long stretches of time can negatively impact your spine, muscles and joints, and it can even take a toll on the functioning of your internal organs. Symptoms you might experience include pain or tightness in your lower back, hips, legs, neck and/or shoulders. To make matters worse, you may even experience abnormal bowel function or fatigue. Doing these simple stretches either before or after takeoff, or even while en route, can help to offset these aches and pains. Stretching decompresses the spine, elongates your muscles and stimulates blood flow to promote better circulation and increase energy throughout your body. Even if you’re not at the airport or a pit stop, make sure that stretching is a part of your daily routine. It’s as necessary as brushing your teeth! Developing the habit now will decrease stiffness over time, increase mobility and prevent age-related shrinking. Stretching costs nothing but a little time. You’re worth it!

STANDING CHEST STRETCH PURPOSE

loosens the shoulder girdle and creates space across the upper chest, stretching the pectoral muscles and front of the shoulders SETUP Stand tall with your feet parallel and hip- width apart (or wider), and the palm of one hand, forearm and inside of your elbow against the edge of a wall, doorframe or pole. Place your opposite hand on the small of your back, or rest your arm by your side.

1 . Begin shuffling your feet a few baby steps forward to increase the stretch. Hold for 2–3 breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Repeat on your other side. TIPS Picture holding a grapefruit under your chin to help stabilize your neck and keep your head aligned with your spine. Imagine that you’re lifting the sides of your waist up away from your hips—try to avoid any twisting in your spine as you shuffle.

STANDING SIDE STRETCH WITH HEAD CRADLE PURPOSE

Decompresses the spine while increasing elasticity of its muscles to alleviate tightness in the neck, lower back, shoulders and hips SETUP Stand against a wall. Inhale, interlacing your fingers behind your head with your elbows bent. Exhale fully, allowing your shoulders to gently glide down toward the floor.

1 . Press your elbows into the wall, and then inhale as you side-bend from your waist, sliding against the wall to one side.

2 . Exhale to return to center. Do 6 reps, alternating sides. TIP As you side-bend, keep your head gently pressing back, with your chin slightly dropped; allow your head to follow your spine as you move. MODIFICATION If your shoulders feel tight, let your elbows come forward from the wall, or stretch your interlaced fingers overhead.

STANDING INNER-THIGH STRETCH WITH A SIDE-BEND PURPOSE

Stretches the lumbar (lower back) and thoracic (middle back) muscles responsible for balance and coordination; loosens the muscles surrounding the hips, promoting better mobility and posture S E T U P Same as Standing Hamstring Stretch, but turn your body so it’s sideways to the platform and rest your arms by your sides.

1 . Lift your outer arm by your ear, and then lean toward your lifted leg; hold for 2–3 breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Repeat on your other side. TIPS Keep your legs straight but your knees soft. If you don’t feel much of a stretch, lift your leg to a higher platform, or try leaning back a little or tilting your pelvis forward or backward.

STANDING HAMSTRING STRETCH PURPOSE

Increases flexibility in the hamstrings to relieve and prevent tension in the legs and lower back; stimulates blood flow from the lower half of the body to the heart SETUP Prop the ball or heel of one foot onto a sturdy platform (such as a bench, step or low sidewalk) that’s no higher than your hips with your leg fully extended. Keep your standing leg in parallel, and square off your hips and shoulders. Rest your hands on your lower back, or place them on your hips.

1 . Slowly hinge forward from your hips; hold the stretch for 2–3 breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Repeat on your other side.

MODIFICATIONS If your hamstrings are tight and you feel your back or hips twisting as you move, slightly bend your elevated knee and avoid leaning forward. If you find it difficult to have your standing leg in parallel, allow your foot to turn slightly out from your hip. Try adding a gentle point and flex of your foot for an additional stretch in your calf.

Seoul must be very proud of having N Seoul Tower. But this capital city is totally great-hearted to own Gwanghwamun and Gwanghwamun Square. Definitely, this venue is one of so many important historical sites in South Korea.

For six hundred years, it maintains its historical traces that recall South Koreans about the Great King Sejong, with his brave Admiral Yi Sun-Shin. Their patriotic actions are symbolized through the King Sejong Story exhibitions as well as the Waterways of History that allows visitors to see the history of Hangeul.

For those, who haven’t visited Seoul, then Gwanghwamun Square should be one of main destination plans. Not only it is located nicely in the central of Seoul, but it is already refurbished in such a magnificent form, while maintaining its strong historical aspects.

For most South Korean people, or mainly Seoul residents, this venue has everything. There are restaurants and vendors, while it also has statues and museums to commemorate King Sejong The Great and Yi Sun-Shin, the Admiral.

However, this place can deliver a great awe to foreign tourists. The Gwanghwamun Gate welcomes everyone who is about to enter the stunning Gyeongbokgung Palace, before taking a walk around the square that measures about 200,000 square feet. Enjoying the views for ten minutes walking”while witnessing the beauty of Bukaksan Mountain nearby”is more than just enough to refresh the body and mind.

Things that visitors can enjoy for 10-minute-sightseeing include The Statue of King Sejong, where it is situated nearby Hangeul, in Korea Main Plaza. There are also the Statue of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin and the Sejong Center, adjoining the Civil Participation Urban Culture Plaza, the best place for those who love to witness South Korean art. Afterwards, visitors can go through Cheonggyecheon Stream Connector which connects Gyeongbokgung Palace and Cheonggyecheon Stream

Without doubt, many South Korean film and drama producers are also very proud of showing those excellent sites on their films and dramas. K-dramas and films addicts can spot Gwanghwamun Square as the backgroud on various scenes. Besides, this place is seen on dramas and movies in various genres. Romance, comedy, fantasies, sci-fi or even action movies and dramas never have enough of using Gwanghwamun as their shooting locations.

Iris

Yes, this drama had delivered such a great impression for 99% of Korean drama lovers. Aired in October to December 2009, this action movie showed off the thrilling scenes in Gwanghwamun Square of National Security System agents who stopped the nuclear bomb setup by the North Korean terrorists. Yet, this highly budgeted movie had its shooting scenes in various countries from Japan, China, and even Russia

Korean Drama Queen In Hyun’s Man

This internationally broadcast drama has shown some romantic scenes with Gwanghwamun square as its background. It was the kissing scene of Kim Hee Jin and Kim Beung Do, starred by Yoo In Na and Ji Hyun Woo.

As this romance-history-action drama was broadcast internationally in 2012, there was such a high visiting rate in Gwanghwamun square afterwards, though this place has been one of the most favorite destinations for South Korean visitors.

Dubai is the hottest destination for tourists. From sand shores to sand dunes, Dubai has a unique set of attraction which can found nowhere else. Although the city is famous for its luxurious hotels, fine dining and incredible shopping district, Dubai is the perfect place for outdoor activities, the favourites being the Dhow cruise, desert safari and dune bashing.

An Adventure in the Desert

The Arabian Desert! The glorious and pristine sea of sand that inspired the story of Aladdin. Magical in real life as well, the deserts of the United Arab Emirates are home to some of the most curious species of animals like the Sand Gazelle and Spiny Tailed Lizard. But perhaps the most wonderful sight here would be the sand dunes, stretching out into the horizon. Desert safari and camel rides are perfect for those wanting to enjoy a quiet vacation. However, no vacation is complete without a good dose of dune bashing to go on an adventure unlike any other.

Dune Bashing A War with Sand

Dune bashing is a popular attraction in Dubai. What is dune bashing, you ask? Tourists are taken on a high octane drive in special land cruisers through the sand. Enjoy a thrilling experience as your vehicle makes waves as it dashes through the sand at high speed. Special care is taken for this unique experience as the vehicles are modified to ensure no accidents occur. The driver is skilled and equipped to drive in the desert. The dune bashing Dubai prices are no match for the actual experience! End the day with a camp in the desert with a cool drink and a view of the sunset.

Dhow Cruise: Dubai Marina’s Best

In contrast to adrenaline-filled dune bashing, the dhow cruise is a more pleasant experience and an ideal way to relax. The cruise takes place on a Dhow which is a traditional Arabian boat. Let your hair down and enjoy the gentle sea breeze of the Dubai Creek while sipping your favourite drink. A Dhow cruise offers you delicious food, good music and an enchanting view of the Dubai cityscape from afar. Some cruises also offer captivating performances by traditional belly dancers. All in all, a Dhow cruise makes a perfect ending to a perfect vacation.

Vacation in Style and Comfort

Dubai is home to some of the best and most luxurious hotels in the world. One such is the DAMAC Maison The Vogue, which is located just 3 kilometres from Downtown Dubai. Most hotelsin Business Bay provide exceptional service and are truly a home away from home.

Dubai can be considered as a source of inspiration. Once a barren desert, it is fascinating to see that the city built from scratch only to become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Middle East. Opulent in every way, Dubai sets the bar high for tourist destinations with the incredible skyscrapers, fine dining restaurants, and heart-warming hospitality.

BMW’s use ignition coils that are coil-on-plug. These are excellent if you are looking to improve the management and efficiency of your engine. These plugs allow for saturation times that are longer and energy sparks that are higher and provide timing that is more precise. This means that the fuel economy is improved and the efficiency of the engine is increased. Coil-on-plug coils also reduce the need for service of the ignition system because it eliminates the spark plug wires, the rotors, and the distributor caps. It pretty much eliminates the service needs of the entire distributor and all the hardware associated with it. The hemispherical cylinder head designs have come with new challenges of service for these vehicles.

Because of the higher heat and longer intervals for service3, the connector boots linking the ignition coils and the spark plugs have the tendency to glue themselves to the end of the spark plugs, or the spark plug insulators. This can cause the owner a major headache. This is because the spark plugs are found deep in the recessed tubes located in the head of the cylinder. The process of pulling the boot of typically rips it, having you standing there with part of the boot still stuck in your hand and the rest attached to the plug. Anytime this occurs, it prevents you from removing the spark plug thanks to the fact that the rubber boot remaining in place prevent the socket from properly fitting the plug. Here is how you can remove the boot in order to finish the job.

Step One

If you have the bolt-on coils found in the earlier style that use a separate connector boot and the boot remains behind when the coil is removed, then you want to grab a pair of needle-nose pliers. Use the pliers first in order to attempt to pull off the boot. However, if you have the later style, the ones that contain integral connectors with a short boot at the bottom of them, and the boot rips or is pulled off from the end of the coil, then skip steps one and two and go to step three.

Step Two

If using the pliers rips the boot more than it is already ripped, then grasp the center electrical connector part of the boot and begin to pull it outward. The hope is that the entire boot will come out. However, there are instances where the electrical connector will separate from the boot and then pull out. If this happens, continue to the next step.

Step 3

At this point, you should have a hollow boot. You can use a shot of spray silicone and apply it into the boot. Once you have sprayed the silicone, you can then insert a long pick tool, if you do not have this type of tool you can use a small flathead screwdriver instead. Insert the tool down through the boot. Gently force this tool in between the spark plug insulator and the inside wall of the boot. This process should break the seal and allow the silicone that was applied to seep down between the plug and the boot. At this point, use the pliers or the pick tool in order to pull what is left of the boot off the spark plug.

Step 4

It’s important that you apply a small amount of silicone grease to the inside of the connector boot when you are installing new parts. You should do this before you assemble the boot onto the spark plug. This prevents problems in the future when you are trying to remove the boot. If you are looking for parts for your BMW, Score BMW Parts has got you covered.

Singapore

According to this account, global consumers are not open to the coordinates of space and ethical implications of the environment, other than in economic terms. It follows, in such an approach, that the possibilities of re-imagining space as place would need to be addressed so that city inhabitants, as economic actors, could recognize the responsibilities for place, the correlations between urban and natural habitats and the destruction of biodiversity in the face of so-called, economic advancement. In considering acts of survival, such a necessity would not have a timeframe attached to it but would be apparent in what curator Charles Merewether described as the fault-lines of the present in which the past persists and the future is uncertain’ (2006: 045).

Marc and Mike Spits give evidence of how, in this rapidly urbanizing world of global uncertainties, the imagination of individual actors can spark a re-imagining process that brings together people, place, care for the environment and protection of species diversity, but not denying economic interests, through entrepreneurial acts with global potential. The Elephant Parade shows the value of bringing art and business together in a global cause, by partnering with leading commercial enterprises, to achieve the aim of raising significant funds in aid of Asian elephants and their protection in the wild. Sotheby’s Auction House and ABN AMRO Private Banking, the presenting sponsor of Elephant Parade Singapore, feature strongly as business partners working for the end-goal of biodiversity protection and enhancement through this project.11

Conclusion: Encountering interlinked narratives

In Designing Place, Lucy Lippard pondered, I wonder what will make it possible for artists to give places back to people who can no longer see them, and be given places in turn, by those who are still looking around’ (Lippard, cited in Byrne et al., 2010: 12). Might this be what the elephant artworks are performing – a giving back process, eliciting personal responses from those whose lives, particularly prior to Christmas, focus almost exclusively on consumer transactions? The busy Singapore streets may have the potential to arrest the attention, make people stop and stare, re-imagining as they encounter place in new ways. Can we claim that these cultural conduits do have a place is such fast market economies?

Foucault talked about the circuits of communication’ and play of signs’ defining the anchorages of power’ (1991: 217). The Elephant Parade reminds us that this is what it is all about. There is a communicating process of interlinked narratives at work here, with the play of signs’ rippling through the consumer life of the city in such a way that place is being re-imagined and re-invigorated.

Foucault had talked also about the great abstraction of exchange’ (1991: 271). That day in Singapore, in December 2011, while seeking to identify art’s presence in Orchard Road, with the world media featuring the eurozone economic crisis as a stark reminder that the potent forces of economic globalization are inescapable, the great abstraction of exchange’ was in action.

If those designed and decorated elephants could inspire just some of the people living in and visiting Singapore and other Elephant Parade locations, to see the immediacy of their presence as global inhabitants of urban environments, and to imagine what excessive rates of urbanization might mean for themselves and the planet, then perhaps something has been achieved beyond a passing aesthetic experience. If they can recognize the play of signs that activate the consumer terrain, and take the mind beyond the immediate and into the space of the Asian elephant and global responsibility, they may go from there to play some small part in activating the Rio Accord. Then the Elephant Parade might be one of the twenty-first century’s most significant, global, art events contributing to a re-imagining process that has every chance of leading to effective, global action.

Singapore

These moves and thinking are in line with what is known as the Rio Accord. At Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992, the United Nations (UN) held a major global summit, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), called the Earth Summit.9 The aim of the Summit was for participating countries to pay urgent attention to the protection of the planet and its resources for future generations, to ensure governments rethink their approaches to economic development, and to implement effective ways to halt the destruction of natural resources and environmental pollution. The resulting document was a comprehensive plan of action known as Agenda 21, comprising the adoption of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, the Statement of Forest Principles, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. Unprecedented in terms of United Nations conferences for its size and scope, the 1992 Earth Summit had grappled with crucial environmental issues facing the world. A decade later in 2002, in Johannesburg, South Africa, the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development reaffirmed the 1992 adoption of Agenda 21, followed by Rio+20 held in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012. This major event saw the establishment of an implementation and accountability framework for sustainable development goals to 2020. Member states engage in local policy-making practices, plans of action, implementation processes and review cycles to ensure that the political commitments to the Rio Accord and Rio+20 are manifested as practical action.10

The founding of a major series of art events known as the Elephant Parade was consistent with these global moves and affirmations. However, this set of events, based in the power of art and culture to change public attitudes, did not comprise a grand government scheme. Interestingly enough, this global art event was founded by two entrepreneurial individuals whose personal encounters inspired a desire to implement something structural that would make a difference for the Asian elephant. In 2006, father and son Marc and Mike Spits met a baby elephant, who had lost a leg after stepping on a landmine. The elephant, Mosha, was being cared for in the Friends of the Asian Elephant Hospital, the first elephant hospital in the world, in Lampang near Chiang Mai, Thailand. Spits tells his story: I	was on holiday in Chiang Mai and I went to visit an elephant hospital. In came an injured baby elephant called Mosha, who was in a horrible state. I became very interested in the animals and decided that I would use my background in copyrighting to launch a campaign.

A year later, in 2007, the first Elephant Parade took place in Rotterdam. Since then the Elephant Parade has been seen in Antwerp 2008, Amsterdam in 2009, Bergen, London and Emmen in 2010, and in 2011 in Heerlen, Copenhagen, Milan and Singapore.

Is something important happening here as far as a re-imagining process is concerned? Neo-classical economic theory posits that, as knowledge is technologized, transferred and circulated, the human subject undergoes transformations of identity formation as Homo economicus. There is a corresponding eviction from the coordinates of physical space, and loss of the potential of Homo sapiens to feel, and make real through re-imagining, and perceiving aesthetically, as a way of sustaining subjective connection to place. Homo economicus, as used by economists in accounts of human agency, positions the human being as a self-interested, rational agent, characterized in terms of a capacity for maximization and optimization in economic decision-making. This privileges efficiency in what Cento Veljanovski calls the market paradigm of objective market settings with the individual as the unit of analysis, the objectified and rational actor’ (Grierson 2011).

Singapore

Such critique frames the economic consequences of globalized, unregulated markets and the eurozone crisis. Soros had pointed out that although the global empire has no formal structure, it has a centre and a periphery just like an empire and the centre benefits at the expense of the periphery’, and the subjects of this empire are in peril as they do not even know they are subjected to it or, more correct, they recognize that they are subjected to impersonal and sometimes disruptive forces but they do not understand what those forces are’ (Soros 1998, cited in Grierson 2006: 71).

The great abstraction of exchange’ of Foucault’s (1991) descriptive analysis, and Soros’s (1998) abstract empire’ opens to a highly volatile set of non-abstract conditions with forces and shifts of power producing radically-contingent, global effects. This is a complex scenario. As globalization scholar Tomlinson predicted in 2000, globalizing phenomena are … complex and multidimensional, putting pressure on the conceptual frameworks by which we have traditionally grasped the social world’ (Tomlinson 2000: 14). In a technologically-connected world wherein modernity’s spatial and cultural concepts of locality and place are open to question, the analysis of globalization as a non-material, nonphysical, un-bounded, cultural, communicative network is as disruptive of connections as it is inter-connective. The local human subject, bound into these complexities with perhaps little comprehension or control of this economic environment, appears to be open to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune’ to use Shakespeare’s famous phrase.8

Urbanization and Biodiversity: Encountering damage and disadvantage

The major concerns of economists, like Soros and Stiglitz, turn towards the uneven distribution of power, and the inevitable damage to disadvantaged nations and people. Damage and disadvantage also inform the need to protect global environments, with understanding and protection of biological diversity, and survival of the world’s forests and critically endangered species. One such species is the genus elephas, elephant. This species, particularly in Asia, is the subject of major concern of the Elephant Parade.
