LE TOINY ST. BARTS, CARIBBEAN
THIS PLACE HAS GOT LUXURIOUS SECLUSION NAILED
So much so that some guests don’t emerge from their hillside suite for the entire week. In a previous life, Le Toiny (above) leant more toward a barefoot Caribbean vibe; now it’s elegance incarnate. The traditional red shallow-pitched tin roofs and green gingerbread trim have been updated by London-based designer Bee Osborn to reflect the beach, with softer greys, cream and sandy beige, flashed with sea blue and the occasional hot pink.

The beach bar is one of St. Barts’ most desirable lunch spots – famed for its lobster pommes frites accompanied by a bottle of Minuty Prestige rosé. And the rest of seductive St. Barts is on the doorstep – dally in the shops, at Vanita Rosa in Gustavia, or Terra Mandarine in St. Jean; drink cocktails at the Sand Bar; dine at Bonito with its stunning views of Gustavia harbour; and finish up dancing on the tables at La Guérite, overlooking the super-yachts.
OUR KIND OF LUXE
The island is perfect for a spot of scuba diving – or at least a snorkelling session. Grab your flippers and explore the underwater universe of corals in full bloom and shoals of cartoon-cute, technicoloured fish. GO Le Toiny (letoiny.com) offers a Junior Suite with private pool from £563 per night.
