How to Get There

If you’re coming to Abuja from the north, take the A3 exit from Lagos. If you’re coming from the south, take the A38 exit from Port Harcourt. Both of these highways will wind their way through rolling countryside for about 150km until they reach Abuja. Once in Abuja, head west on Airport Road, then turn left onto Federal Road. Follow Federal Road all the way to its end at the edge of Abuja-Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

If you’re coming from the city centre, use either Indiriya or Quarters 2-5 road as your starting point. These roads intersect at Oba Market near the National Stadium and continue in a northwesterly direction until they meet Federal Road again, just outside of the airport.

If you’re coming by bus or train, Kano is your best bet. The national railway station is located just two minutes’ walk away from Kano Central Mosque (one of Nigeria’s most important tourist destinations). From there, it’s a straightforward 30-minute walk to historic Kanembu quarters and beyond. Alternatively, take a bus to Sokoto and change there for a bus to Abuja; both journeys.
