Montgomery Gallery displays the permanent collections of Pomona College, presents a schedule of temporary exhibitions during the academic year, trains students in museum practice, and participates actively in the teaching mission of the College. The Pomona College collections number approximately 8,000 objects. Important holdings include the Kress Collection of 15th- and 16th-century Italian panel paintings; over 5,000 examples of pre-Columbian to 20th-century Native American art and artifacts (ceramics, baskets, and beadwork); a large collection of American and European prints, drawings and photographs; and contemporary painting and sculpture.

Scripps College – Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery

The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery presents both historical and contemporary exhibitions in a variety of media. Each year, the Gallery presents the Scripps Ceramic Annual, which is the best known and longest running exhibition of contemporary ceramics in the United States. In conjunction with rhis exhibition, the Gallery presents an artist panel discussion. Other activities include exhibition-related lectures, symposia, films, gallery talks, and a large Clay Day and Music Festival. The gallery presents loan exhibitions and participates in inter-museum loans. Juried student and senior studio art major exhibitions are held annually in the spring. The permanent collection consists of the General Edward Clinton Collection of American paintings and works on paper; the Dr. and Mrs. William E. Ballard Collection of Japanese prints: the Fred and Estelle Marer Collection of Japanese prints and contemporary American, British, Korean. Mexican, and Japanese ceramics; the Mary Wig and James Johnson Collections of Japanese prints: the Dorothy Adler Routh Collection of cloisonne; the Wagner Collection of African sculpture; and American prints, drawings and photographs.
