Dunton Hot Springs at Dolores, Colorado
This establishment was once-upon-a-time a gold-mining town, though today, it appears more akin to a designer magazine that’s sprung to life. The Dunton Hot Springs’ owners have invested years into restoring the area, and the rough-hewn exteriors bely the luxurious innards. The family package includes a show-shoe expedition or entire day guided tour, two half-day fun-packed activities for the children, access to hiking trails, and unlimited usage of ice skates, snow shoes, cross-country skis, and mountain bikes. If you’d care to venture further afield, Telluride is a 30-mile drive, while Mesa Verde National Park is around an hour away. Dunton Hot Springs features six natural hot springs, though, depending on the season, some are more suited to kids than others.
