Apart of the LMU campus on bluffs overlooking Marina del Rey and the Pacific Ocean, the Laband is located in the Fritz B. Burns Fine Arts Center. Its exhibitions are defined by three concepts: (1) thematic projects featuring traditional and non-traditional spirituality; (2) the exploration of social and political issues; and (3) ethnological and/or anthropological displays. On occasion, an exhibition will encompass two or all three of these concerns. In addition, the gallery hosts the National Biennial Exhibition of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society, the only ongoing survey of recent American graphic art in Southern California. The adjacent Murphy Concert Hall is used for slide lectures or conferences related to the gallerys programs.
