Located in the heart of Westwood Village, UGLA at the Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center serves as a meeting place and showcase for the arts. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy a variety of arts programs organized b> UCLA or major national and international institutions. In addition to offering a diverse schedule of historical and contemporary art exhibitions, the Museum presents music, dance, poetry, video, gallery talks, symposia, and docent tours for people of all ages. The Armand Hammer Collec on features primarily Impressionist and PostImpressionist paintings b\ such artists as Mary Cassatt,
Claude Monet Camille Pissarro, John Singer Sargent, and Vincent van Gogh. Paintings by John Constable, Pablo Picasso and others from UCLAs collections are also on view.
Exhibitions drawn from the Armand Hammer Daumier and Contemporaries Collection are also shown on a rotating basis and include the painting, sculpture and lithography of 19th-century French artist Honore Daumier and his contemporaries. The Museum also displays exhibitions drawn from the extensive collection of the UGLA Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts (see separate listing), one of the finest university collection.” of graphic arts in the country.
The Museum staff also administers the Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden, one of the most distinguished outdoor sculpture collections in the country. Spanning more than five acres on UCLAs Xorth Campus, the Sculpture Garden features over 70 works by such artists as Jean Arp, Alexander Calder, Claire Falken.tein, Barbara Hepworth, Gaston Lachaise, Jacques Lipchitz, Henri Matisse.
