Taipei Half-Day City Tour
We’ve got a half day here in Taipei, taipei travel guide: taipei 5 days itinerary for first timers and we’re gonna squeeze in all the most important sights. So Longshan means Dragon Mountain. And that’s why there’s so many intricate dragons all over this place. There’s so many bright colors and flowers and offerings. It’s really quite astounding to be here. We’re here at the National Palace Museum, home of the best collection of Chinese art in the entire world. This big beautiful building behind me is the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. And it is definitely one of the must-see places in all of Taipei. The design of the shrine is modeled after the National Palace in the Forbidden City in Beijing. Not only is the architecture and the colors of the shrine incredible. But what I love most are all the intricately manicured bonsai trees. My experience in Taipei has been absolutely magical. The history of Taiwan is fascinating. And I’m glad I made the stop.

It might look like I’m getting a shoulder massage. But really, this is gonna morph into the best foot massage of my life. Taipei Taroko Gorge Full Day Tour
I am really excited because today I’m gonna be checking out Taroko Gorge, one of the top attractions in all of Taiwan. It’s known for its marble cliffs, jungle-clad mountains. This is certainly a nature lovers paradise. I am now deep in the gorge. And this is the spot, the view you want to see. There’s a waterfall pouring down. And the cliff sides are so steep, you have to walk around like this in order to take it all in. This is absolutely stunning. So right now I’m gonna take a walk on this beautiful path that goes through the mountain and pops out at the Eternal Spring Shrine. A little walk in nature is always good for the soul. I feel like I’m inside an Indiana Jones movie. There’s all sorts of suspension bridges that go over these beautiful waterfalls. The canyons are super high, covered in jungle. You can hear all these bugs chirping in the distance. It’s definitely wild. Wooo-hooo! You can’t walk a few steps here without stopping and admiring the view. The landscape around here is just breathtaking. I’m in for a treat right now. It is lunchtime, and I’m gonna eat traditional Taroko food, but it’s a fusion mixed with some of the modern menu items you can find all over Taiwan. Cheers! The Taroko Gorge is definitely one of those places you have to see to believe. The scale of it is so immense, gigantic. It’s just incredible to be walking around here.

Taiwan – Kavalan Whisky Distillery
I’m now in Yilan about an hour outside of Taipei at the Kavalan Whisky Distillery and this place is the number one producer for whiskey in the entire country. Taiwanese love whiskey and so do I, so I’m going to try out some varieties right now. The distillery is really beautiful. You actually get to walk through and see all the fancy machines that make the whiskey and along the way, our guide tells us about all the different varieties they produce. Okay, this is our aroma tea wheel, this is PG malt. Basically we use 100% malty barley. And I hear the Taiwanese love whiskey. Yes, but now we rank top five regarding the whisky consumption. That’s something to be proud of. Right. This looks pretty good. An entire yard of picnic tables full of whiskey. It’s time to sit down. Look at that. So the more legs the better. The more legs, the richer The richer. and the stronger of the whiskey. Cheers. Cheers. Very smooth. Very smooth. Absolutely. Fruity. Fruity. Easy to drink. That’s a good thing Or a dangerous thing. Yes. If you’re a whiskey traveller, Kavalan is probably already on your itinerary. If you’re new to whiskey, it’s definitely a fun experience all together.

I guarantee you, you’ll have a good time. It feels like I am standing over a model. All the cars are teeny. The buildings look like little LEGOs. You can see the mountains way off in the distance. All the lakes, the rivers, it’s quite a view. I’m here at the Beitou Hot Springs and let me tell you this place is about as posh as it gets. There’s beautifully sculptured gardens. There’s a number of different pools. It’s kinda like being in a candy store. They all have their own flavor and of course, I’m gonna try them all out. Wooo. So “Longshan” means “Dragon mountain”, and that’s why there is so many intricate dragons all over this place.

I’m at the Shilin Market here in Taipei and I hear it’s full of all sorts of goodies. I’m excited to get in there and see what I can find. Kinda like a pig in a blanket. It’s a local treat and everybody seems to love it here. Hi! There’s a lot to see here.
Jiufen Old Street
There’s a lot going on. This is kind of a explosion for the senses. Makes me feel alive. I’m getting really good at Chinese and this right here, you know what that means? Stinky Tofu. Smells actually kinda good to me. I’ve eaten a lot of food. It’s time to burn off those calories with some games, here we go. Boom! Read out, playing darts.
