Ventura College – Art Galleries, cont. Activities: Temporary Exhibitions.

The Ventura College art galleries, Gallery2 and New Media Gallery, present facidty and student work, as well as artwork by professional artists from throughout the United States. Exhibitions have featured among others the work of Carlos Almaraz, Don Bachardy, Billy A1 Bengston, Gary F. Brown, Robert Frame, Louise Nevelson, and Julian Schnabel. The Colleges permanent art collection includes works by Goya, Dali, and Chagall, which may be seen in the campus library.

Founded as the Pioneer Museum, the Ventura County Museum of History and Art promotes education, awareness and research pertaining to the history and culture of Ventura County and the Southern California region. In addition to a permanent history exhibit and a collection of George Stuart one-quarter life-size historical figures, the Museum presents changing exhibitions in its Hoffman Gallery focusing on artists and historical topics relating to the area.

The Gallerv presents temporary exhibitions of the work of emerging artist;- as well as those with national and international reputations.

Walnut Creek Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts – Bedford Gallery

Activities: Education Programs; Gallery Talks; Guided Tours: Temporary Exhibitions. Publications: calendar; exhibition catalogues; magazine, “Diablo Arts”.

Located on the first level of the Dean Lesher Regional Center for the Arts, the Bedford Gallery presents temporary’ exhibitions of contemporary art. The Center is owned and operated by the City of Walnut Creek.

Yountville Napa Valley Museum

Publications: newsletter (quarterly).

Located on the grounds of the Veterans Home of California. NVM is a general museum with exhibits in the arts, anthropology, history, and the natural sciences. Highlights of the permanent collection include 19th century watercolors of native California wildflowers and the Henry Evans portfolio of botanical pr.nts.
