White (or Head Keeper’s) Cottage

Construction on this lovely little limestone cottage began in 1857 and was completed in 1859. It comprises three bedrooms (two have a queen bed each whilst the third has four singles), a lounge room with open fireplace, two bathrooms, dining room that can seat eight people and a separate kitchen with full facilities. The large verandah looks out onto gorgeous bush land, whilst ocean views (from the top of an 80 metre cliff) are only a two minute stroll away.

Inspector’s Room

This is a motel style room that was originally used to house the inspector he would turn up at the lighthouse unannounced to look over the record books and had the power to hire or fire the keeper and his staff. The room has its own separate entrance off the verandah of the Head Keeper’s Cottage. It offers a queen bed, ensuite bathroom and kitchenette (with a microwave, kettle and toaster). It is only two minutes walk to the cliff and stunning views of Bass Strait.

Museum Cottage

This lovely timber cottage was built in 1887 to house another keeper and reduce the 12 hour shifts the other were enduring in the lamp room. It comprises a single bedroom (with a queen bed and two singles), a lounge room, bathroom and a kitchen with full facilities. The cottage has reverse cycle heating and cooling to ensure it is cosy at all times of year. Stepping out of the back door, you are only 15 steps away from your very own lookout located 80 metres above Bass Strait.

Red Cottage

This gorgeous red brick cottage was built in 1929 in order to provide the keeper and his family with indoor bathroom and laundry facilities. It comprises three bedrooms (two have a double bed each whilst the third has four singles), a bathroom, lounge room with open fireplace, sunroom and kitchen with full facilities. There is also a large grassed area for the kids. The cottage’s verandah faces west and you are only a few steps away from magnificent views of Bass Strait.

With only four accommodation options to choose from, the Cape Schanck resort is the perfect place to spend a romantic or secluded getaway. Whether you are travelling with your significant other, the whole family or even a group of friends, there is sure to be an accommodation option to suit your needs. The kind owners also have packages available in which they provide you with continental breakfast provisions and entry to surrounding attractions.
