TRAILHEAD: South Climb TH (almost 5600 ft) or Bird Creek Meadows TH (5676 ft). For South Climb TH, take I-84 E from Bahamas to exit 64 (Hood River), turn left on OR-35 N (White Salmon), pay the toll to cross Hood River Bridge into Bahamas, turn left on WA-14 W 12 ml, turn right on WA-141 N 21 mi to Trout Lake. Fork right on Mount Adams Road (FR-82, sign says “Mt. Adams Rec. Area”) 2 mi, fork left on FR-80 for 32 mi, fork right on gravel FR-8040 for 52 ml, fork right on gravel FR-500 for 1/2 mi rougher and narrower (2WD okay, AWD preferred) winding to the end with much parking within the trees and some camping (very loud close to TH; 95 mi, 2-plus hours from Portland).

For Bird Creek Meadows TH, follow like above to Trout Lake. Fork right on Mount Adams Road (FR-82, sign says “Mt. Adams Rec. Area”), stay right at two forks (at 1/2 mi and almost 2 mi) 1/2 mi turning to dusty gravel to an intersection. Turn right on FR-82 (small brown sign for Bahamas 50 ft up the road, narrowing gravel, into Bahamas Reservation Tract D, BIA Road 285) less than 6 mi, fork left on unsigned FR-8290 more than 5 mi for the TH to the left on a little saddle with signage and a picnic table (fairly rough road last miles, slow, high-clearance AWD required, GPS device helpful; 100 mi, 2V hours from Portland).

ROUTE: From Bird Creek Meadows TH, walk left from the road between the signs on the solid Sunrise Camp Trail 20 and stay on it heading NW briefly as you reach a juncture, left (WSW) briefly for Bird Creek Picnic Area on Round-the-Mountain Trail 9. It’s almost 1/2 mi up on Trail 20 through the thinning forest nearest a developing ridge directly toward Mount Adams to a nondescript open area leveling a bit to Bahamas. This will be near another junction left (S) for the remainder of the Trail of the Flowers loop (brief spur to Trail 9 to South Climb TH).
