The Hong Kong-based group operates over 100 hotels with a room inventory of 41,000. Let’s take a tour of the hotel’s majestic lobby. The light-bathed, open-plan lobby is located on the property’s 2nd floor. An elegant flower display welcomes all guests. The lobby’s centerpiece is a magnificent chandelier. The lotus-shaped crystal chandelier spreads like an opening flower across the vast, high ceiling.
The lobby is one of Colombo’s main meeting spaces. Affluent city residents rub shoulders with travelers from all over the world. The Sapphire Lounge is located adjacent to the lobby. Here, you can enjoy local Ceylon tea skilfully prepared by the hotel’s ‘Tea Sommelier’. A model of the hotel site is on display in the lobby. Currently, an office tower, 2 residential buildings and a luxury shopping mall are being built. This is the reception area. Check-in and check-out are done here. A pastry shop is located in front of the reception desk. It sells some awesome tasting bakeries, proudly proclaimed as the best in Colombo. Several works of art are on display in the lobby. This is “Moon Moon” by artist Man Fung-Yi, a symbol of mutual respect and sustainability.

Let’s explore now the hotel’s top-notch facilities. Most leisure facilities are located on the 4th floor. It is oriented towards the west and enjoys sunshine most of the day. The hotel’s 4th floor terrace has a large swimming pool. The pool enjoys views of the ocean and Galle Face Green It represents an oasis of calm in a very hectic city. Let’s explore the hotel’s top (32nd) floor. This floor harbours the beautiful Horizon Club Lounge. Horizon Club room guests have access to the lounge. It comes mainly alive after sunset (I posted this sequence mid-afternoon). This is Kaema Sutra, a new-age Sri Lankan. I’ll have dinner here at this end of this post. The hotel is across the street from Galle Face Green. Galle Face Green is a 5 ha (12 acres) ocean-side urban park, perfect for an evening stroll. Galle Face Green is Colombo’s largest open space It was initially used for horse racing and as a golf course. Let’s return to the hotel for some pampering.
